Overview
In 1825 the land at the mouth of Turtle Creek remained within an extensive Winnebago territorial claim, whose southeast boundary stretched from the source of Rock river to within forty miles of its mouth, where the tribe had a village, and whose general claim extended north to the Chippewa country. On August 19, a treaty of peace made at Prairie du Chien settled boundaries between the Winnebagoes and other tribes. ↗ ↗ ↗ ↗ ↗
