- September 28, 1836On the right bank of the Mississippi in Dubuque County, Wisconsin Territory, opposite Rock Island, Henry Dodge and chiefs of the confederated Sauk and Fox, including Keokuk (Kee-o-kuck) and Wapella, concluded a treaty ceding the 400-section reservation set apart in 1832. The tribes agreed to leave that land by November 1, 1836, and not to plant, fish, or hunt there afterward.
