Overview

In Beloit itself, 1860 saw changes in the local press and churches. The Beloit Herald's name was changed to the Beloit Courier on January 1, and the consolidated Journal and Courier issued its first number on April 5; in December, C. Mann bought out Bristol and started the Rock County Republican. Rev. Thomas Holman's pastorate ended March 3, Rev. R. Prentice began his pastorate March 12, and Rev. George C.
