In February an ice gorge in the Rock River one mile north of Beloit raised water that flooded Yost's park and forced residents along the river bank to move, and interurban railroad traffic was interrupted by flooded tracks. On a Sunday afternoon at Yost's Park, the Red Sox, with Al Chilson pitching, won a game against the Rockford South Side Merchants by a score of two to one; Spohn's single in the eighth inning scored Roherty with the winning run.
