Over the summer the park hosted a series of organized gatherings: the Janesville butchers and grocers scheduled their annual picnic for July 29, a baseball game between the Janesville nine and the Beloit Moose team was set there in connection with a picnic on August 8, and the Odd Fellows lodges of Beloit and Janesville, together with the Janesville Rebekah chapters, held a picnic attended by about 300 people on September 2. Extensive road construction was under way across Rock County, directed by Commissioner of Highways C. E. Moore, with crews and crusher plants at work on roads including the Evansville-Janesville road, the Brooklyn road, the road between Milton and Milton Junction, Milton avenue in the town of Harmony, and roads in the towns of Clinton, Bradford, Spring Valley, Fulton and Beloit; the work had been inspected by State Engineer Hirst.
