In Beloit, 1892 saw several institutional developments: the Beloit State Bank was established, the Beloit Savings Bank elected Mr. Hansen as secretary and treasurer, and Mr. Salmon and his brother Edward P. Salmon became sole owners of the Beloit Water Works Company. The horse railroad line was rebuilt with electricity as motive power at a cost of over $100,000, and Mr. Hardy started The Daily Republican. In church life, the pastorate of L. Abels ended in January, a new pipe organ was inaugurated with a concert in the new Presbyterian building in February, publication of Our Church Home ceased in October, and a church was organized under Rev.
