1907

In Beloit, 1907 saw the street railway equipped and completed over about six miles of track with loops on each side of the river, beginning operations on August 1, and the Beloit street railway opened in July. The Northwestern Railway Company began work on a $3,000,000 system of yards, roundhouse and shops adjoining the southern limits of the city. The 'Daily News' Publishing Company erected its own building on Fourth Street costing over $30,000, and J. M. Bostwick built a large new factory building at the east end of the Court Street bridge for the Bassett & Echlin Harness and Saddlery Company. Roy F. Wright was elected cashier on April 1, and Mr. Babbitt died suddenly on March 11. A Beloit man was elected to the school board in July, a Beloit attorney's fifteen consecutive years as city attorney ended when he declined re-election, and Hon.
