In 1898 the Chicago & North-Western Railway Company built a new depot to take the place of the old wooden structure which had been used by the company for many years on Academy street. The depots of both roads, as we have mentioned, when they arrived in Janesville Avere on opposite sides of the river, but remained there only a short time ; removed to Pleasant street and Center avenue, they remained there for a few years and then moved to Academy street about 1872.
