• “Mouat, who ranks among the progressive and successful younger members of the Janesville bar, was born on a farm in the town of Harmony, Rock county, Wis., June 1, 1872, to James and Mary (Story) Mouat. His father, a Scotchman, was born on one of the Shetland islands in 1829 and came to Wisconsin with his parents in 1846. His mother was a native of Chautauqua county, New York.”
