Whittet has taken a commendable interest in public affairs, and has been honored with various public trusts. He is a Republican in politics, and during the years 1897-1901 served on the county board of supervisors, and from April, 1901 to June 1, 1906 filled the office of postmaster at Edgerton. He is also officially connected with the Edgerton public library.
