• “Martin Gould, uncle of subject, was a native of New York state and with his brother, Amos Gould, was associated in business for fifty years. He was a man of influence in his community and in 1852 moved to Michigan City, Ind., with his only sister, Mrs. Dolly Miner, with whom he lived till her death in 1878.”
