Roswell Bruce came to Turtle and settled on 250 acres, partly in Turtle and partly in La Prairie.

• “Shopiere ; born in Friendship, Allegany Co., N. Y., Jan. 18, 1830; son of Roswell Bruce, a farmer in that county; became to Turtle in 1844, and settled on 250 acres, partly in Turtle and partly in La Prairie; he died in the lall of 1864, at the age of 75. Mr.”
