The court house was raised and covered/roofed; A. Richardson was the contractor. Several passages date the court house's erection generally to 1842.

Richardson became the contractor, and in January 1842 the building was raised and eovercd; and in December of the same year, agreeably to contract, the building was so far completed that it could be used for county purposes. It was subsequently fully completed by James Chamberlain, Ot The care bestowed upon the new, and eminently exalted court house may be learned from the Honorable: agent employed to repair and furnish it.— In the proceedings of the board of commissioners, under date of Sept. 1843, is found this minute: " Ordered that James H.”
