• “HENRY G. SPENCER (retired), Evansville; born in Springfield, Vt., in 1812 ; he removed to Wisconsin in March, 1837, being one of the first settlers of Rock Co. ; he engaged in the improvement of land, and continued farming until 1844 ; then sold his farm and removed to Evansville, where he built a hotel which bore his name until 1879 ; Mr.”
