From the summer of 1837 the Beloit settlement filled up rapidly; the New England Company sent out a number of new settlers.

• “The first comers of the New England Company boarded at Caleb Blodgett's log cabin for a short time after their arrival, but they soon bought old Theibault's log hut, and, having no longer any interest in the place, the Frenchman moved away, as previously narrated, and was speedily followed by the few Indians who had remained here. "• From the time to which this history has now been brought down, the summer. of 1837, the settlement filled up rapidly. The New England Company sent out a number of new settlers, among them, Deacon Horace Hobart, Asahel B.”
