From St. Louis, he moved to Janesville, and manufactured ladders for the Doty Manufacturing Co. ; from there, to Beloit, where from June 1, 1874, to Oct. 10, 1875, he worked on pattern work for the Merrill & Houston iron works. He commenced business ibr himself at his present location, where he is doing a good and profitable business.
