A Congregational Church was organized in the town of Newark.

“Three religious societies have at different 'times been organized within the limits of this town. -.A, Baptist organization in-1849; a Congregational in 1845, anda Lutheran in 1844. The last mentioned, have a ver' y respectable house of worship. and regular preaching. 'This society includes the Norwegian population, which constitute about one poor of the whole population of 'the town. fas The town of Newark was ere and elected her first set of officers on the Ist of April, in the year 1846.”
