The dam across Rock river at Beloit (built by Hanchett & Lawrence) was completed.

The evidence

• “Field and their associates, successors and assigns, to build and maintain a dam across Rock river at Beloit, and gave them the same powers and privileges as were given to the proprietors of the dam at Janesville. This dam was constructed in 1844 and creates the water-power now in use at Beloit.”
