• “Frank J. Sammon, one of the progressive and public spirited citizens of Avon township, was born in Winnebago county, Illinois, on July 10, 1855, to Timothy and Catherine (Dunn) Sammon. They were sturdy Irish people whose yearning for a home in a free country brought them to the United States in an early day, believing that a good opportunity for accumulating a fortune lay before them.”
