“This library had been kept in an upper floor of the Winslow & Rosenberg store, and was in the property saved by the firemen. In 1859, "Ever Ready " had established a flourishing library, and it increased to 1,000 volumes, but, in 1866, this library was lost in the fire that destroyed their engine-house.”
