• “Hannah Bower, the first white lady in the town, and subsequently by Mr. Henry Crandall, Elder Stillman and Coon in 1839 and 1841 respectively, but no attempt was made to form a village at that spot until the time indicated above. There was no necessity for it for one reason, as Old Milton was only a mile distant, and for another, if another were wanting, there waS no inducement to build.”
