A party engaged a team and traveled from their home to visit Horace Churchill at the Bark River mill in Jefferson County, passing through Fort Atkinson.

The evidence

• “As I have already stated Horace Churchill and family who came west with us had settled at Bark River in Jefferson County, now called Hebron, and had built there a saw mill and was cutting out quite a quantity of lumber. In August 1840 we made up our minds to go and visit him; so we engaged a team and all of us started out for the Bark River mill. We had to pass through Fort Atkinson.”
