• “He resolved at an early age to seek his fortune in the New World, and landed at New York in 1842, locating in Jefferson Co., Wis., the same year, where he lived twenty-two years; sold his farm, except forty acres, and settled on the farm he now owns of 180 acres in 1866. Married Mi>s Nauey Simpson in 1840, who died in January, 1855, leaving five children — Jane, Agnes, William E., Mary and James. He married Miss Nancy Kyle in 1857 ; they have six children — Elizabeth, Levina, John, Thomas, Lillie and Edward.”
