• “S. EliDRED, grocer; came to Johnstown, Rock Co., Wis., in 1842; engaged in farming there for thirteen years; in the spring of 1855, came to Janesville, where he was engaged in the lumber business until the fall of 1857 ; afterward a member of the firm of Eldred, Barrows & Lund, dealers in agricultural implements, seeds, etc., fir one year; in 1858, he established a grocery business; associated with C. H.”
