The fourth college convention met, adopted a charter, and appointed a Board of Trustees; the board held its first meeting October 23, 1845, immediately after the convention adjourned.

• “The convention, therefore, then passed, as a matter of course, a resolution locating the college at Beloit, and appointed a committee of ten to draw up a charter and a list of trustees, both to be presented to the fourth convention, October 21, 1845. This convention accepted the trustees and charter as recommended, and left further arrangements, including the locating of the seminary, in the hands of these sixteen trustees : Aratus Kent, Stephen Peet, Dexter Clary, Aaron L.”
