• “Alfred Gardiner, one of the popular and successful farmers of Avon township, Rock county, Wisconsin, is the son of Stephen and Susan (Bean) Gardiner, who were natives of England and who in 1853 came to the United States and settled in New York state, where they remained seven years, and then came West, locating at first in Beloit, where they rented a farm and followed that business until, shortly after the war, he removed to Avon township and again engaged in general farming, which he continued until his death in 1892 at the age of seventy-five years, eight months and twenty-three days. His widow survives and lives at .”
