• “Eugene K. was born in Webster, Monroe Co., N. Y., April 11, 1838; he received a common-school edu; cation in Newark and Beloit, being only 8 years old when his parents moved here ; in 1871, he was elected Chairman of the Board of Supervisors ; re-elected in 1872, 1873, and again in 1877 and 1878 ; he was also elected in 1872, to the Legislature from the Beloit or Fourth District; first, in opposition to John Hackett, receiving a vote of 556 against 154, and in 1872, in opposition to J. L.”
