• “Andrew Shirley, who is the fifth child of a family of nine children, is a native of Norway, where he was born on January 10, 1849. His parents were Henry and Isabelle (Johnson) Shirley, who emigrated with their family to the United States in 1853. They came direct to Wisconsin and settled on a farm in Avon township, where they carried on farming with unvarying success for many years.”
