• “Perhaps the most singular and apparently unexplainable mutilation of a name is that of widow Odegarden, as her name appears upon the government land records. In examining the entries of land in Rock county I find that Gisle Seberson Hallan became a freeholder in Rock county, November 29, 1839, and on the same date Gooneal G. Doctor took title to her first land.”
