The Wisconsin state census of 1905 recorded township populations: 931 (township containing Emerald Grove and Fairfield); 1,031 (town with the village of Center); 1,138; 918 (Johnstown); 874; 899; 1,849 plus 810 in Milton village; 924 (Newark); 1,352 (Plymouth); 1,224 (town with Cooksville and Stebbinsville); 930 (Rock); 1,000; and 1,027 (Turtle).
