Anson Rogers bought a half-interest in the Buob brewery

The evidence

• “In 1853, John Buob built a brewery up the river, half a mile above the railroad, where he manufactured lager beer for thirsty throats. In 1854, Anson Rogers, since Mayor of the city two terms, bought a half-interest from Buob, and they carried on the business together for eight years, at the end of which time, Buob sold to Rogers and went to Jefferson, where ho built a flouring-mill. In 1871, he returned, and, in company with his brother Michael, who had remained in the employ of Rogers, leased the brewery, and they have operated it ever since, turning out about two hundred barrels of beer a month.”
