This aroused the inventive genius of a Beloit workman, John F. Appleby, who in 1871 produced a working twine binder for harvesting machines. This was made and introduced by Parker and Stone at Beloit in 1878, and in 1879 the Deering Company, of Chicago, placed it on their Marsh Harvester.
