• “Janesville ; born in the city of Syracuse, Onondaga Co., N. Y., February, 1838; when 4 years of age he came with his parents to a farm in (he same county, where he attended a good common school, learned farming thoroughly; in the fall of 1863, he came to the city of Janesville, Wis., where he worked at railroading for a few months, then returned to his home. New York State; he entered in the late civil war in Syracuse, N.”
