George Goodhue and his uncle Tyler H. Moore came west by lake to Chicago and purchased the site of the Tremont House.

• “Charles Frederick Henry Goodhue was for many years a member of the Canadian parliament and lived at Sherbrooke, Quebec, with three sons and two daughters. In the summer of 1835 or 1836 the oldest son, George, with his uncle, Tyler H. Moore, came west by lake to Chicago, where they purchased the present site of the Tremont House, going thence to Belvidere for a short time.”
