• “Fonda came to Turtle, Wis., in June, 1846, and settled on one and a quarter acres, then bought forty acres, and, through industry and frugality, now has 300 acres under good cultivation; has fine barns and general stock ; was burned out in 1875, and lost about $2,500, but has built up again. Married on Oct. 18, 1844, in Montgomery Co., N. Y., Margaret Hilts, daughter of Capt.”
