• “Child came to Wisconsin in the fall of 1845, and settled in Eagle, Waukesha Co. ; engaged as school teacher for three years ; since then has always been engaged in mercantile pursuits in Palmyra, Albion and Edgerton ; came to Rock Co., Nov. 11, 1866, and opened a general store ; four years afterward, he sold out, and in 1870 commenced the business which he now is engaged in, which was the first tobacco warehouse at Edgerton ; ships 3,000 cases, on an average, annually. Married, April 28, 1848, Miss B. C.”
