The evidence

• “Close by on what is now the John Hetts farm, was the claim of William Pritchard. He had helped to build the Dwight Foster AM log house, close by the Fort, in Fort Atkinson, in October, 1836. After building that log house Pritchard made the claim I have referred to, the Hetts farm, built a small log house upon it, went to Milwaukee and married his wife, came back to the shanty, and with his wife lived there two years.”
