Settlers came to Janesville in 1846: Mr. Alden (grocery business), Haselton, Mr. Jeffris, a Cattaraugus Co. N. Y. settler, and a Monroe Co. N. Y. settler.

• “Cr. ALDEN, grocer; born in Union, Knox Co., Me., March 1, 1819; was in grocery business in Bangor' till 1846, then came to Janesville, where he continued in the same business. Married Alvitia Miller, of Bangor, in October, 1842 ; she was born in Wiscasset, Me.”
