• “P. 0. Beloit; born in Norway in 1842; he is the son of Cleophas Halverson ; his parents came to Newark in 1843 ; he was educated there, and has been on the farm with his father nearly all the time ; when his father came to Newark, he took up forty acres Government land, built a log cabin and improved the land, and sold it in 1845 ; he bought more land and built another log cabin, which he soon after enlarged and sided it with boards ; now has a very nice residence ; have six children living. His family are members of the Lutheran Church.”
