“Janesville; born in Hinsdale, Berkshire Co., Mass., in 1814 ; educated there till 21 years old ; came to Wisconsin in December, 1837, and settled on the land he now occupies. Married, in 1835, Miss Mary Anne Thyer, of Hinsdale, Mass., who was born in 1818; have three sons — William Silas, born Jan. 1, 1840; Charles Henry, Aug. 18, 1852;”
