• “NELSON WINSTON, banker and merchant, Evansville; born in New York Oct. 15, 1820, came to Wisconsin in the fall of 18-11, and engaged in farming in Union Township (now Porter), Rock Co. ; in 1849, removed to Dane Co., and engaged in mercantile business in Oregon, in partnership with Mr. Isaac M.”
