• “He spent the first winter at Watertown, in Jefferson county, engaged in lumbering. In 1837 he removed to Turtle township and bought a quarter section of land in section 2, where he made a home and reared his family and where he passed his life as a successful farmer, being esteemed as a kind-hearted, upright man and a worthy citizen. His death occurred in 1896 at the age of eighty-three years.”
