Mr. Stoddard sold his interest in the Gazette establishment to Wm. (Tompkins); another passage dates the sale generally to December 1845.

• “Janesville Gazette-—The first number of the Gazette was published on the 14th of August, 1845, by Levi Alden and E. A, Stoddard, the firm being known by the name of Aldon & Stoddard. On the 6th day of December, 1845, Mr. Stoddard sold his interest in the establishment to Wm.”
