• “His brother, Egbert, is now deceased. The parents came to the United States in 1850, and after four years' residence in Beloit, Wis., settled on a farm in Newark township, where they passed the remainder of their days. The father was a successful farmer and brought his farm, which was wholly unimproved when he settled on it, to a high state of cultivation, and improved it with good buildings and other equipments of the modern farm.”
