• “he was burned out of house and home by the British and Indians and driven away for three years ; upon one occasion, returning to that neighborhood, met others, found a band of Indians occupying the old tavern, surprised them and killed a number of them ; he died July 15, 1854, of cholera while aboard a boat on ths lakes ; was 66 years of age.
