• “Dickson also acted as land agent for Eastern speculators, and gradually developed, in this manner, a business in real estate. Being one of the earliest settlers of the town, he became concerned in the conduct of its government; in 1842, he was elected Justice of the Peace, and, from that time, held the office for many years ; he has also held various other town offices ; in 1859, he was elected to the Legislature and served two terms ; in political affairs he has attached himself to the Republican party and taken a most active interest in its career and management.
