The newspaper name was changed to "Badger State."

The evidence

• “In 1849 it had passed into the hands of Charles S. Jordan, who issued a few numbers and then suspended publication until March 1, 1849, when its publication was resumed under the title of "Rock County Badger." In 1850, under different editors, the name was again changed to "Badger State," and in 1851 it was merged with a new paper called the "Democratic Standard." Under this name it continued until 1858, when it gave way to the "Janesville Daily and Weekly Times."”
