The evidence

• “In 1854 I was elected to the office of District Attorney of the County of Jefferson, I held this office for two years with good success and at the end of my term, I went into the political convention and nominated for the office my friend, Charles R. Gill, who had just settled in Watertown and was new in the profession, to give him a start.”
