• “P. HAMMOND, retired farmer, Evansville ; born in Connecticut Sept. 9, 1808 ; he removed to Wisconsin in 1839, and engaged in farming in Johnstown Center; in the spring of 1844, he removed to Janesville ; in 1845, to Magnolia, where he engaged in farming and wool growing ; in 1874, he sold out and removed to Union, where he managed a farm until 1878, when he sold out and removed to Evansville, having retired from all active pursuits. He was elected to the State Constitutional Convention in 1846. Married, in Michigan, Feb. 11, 1839, Miss Elizabeth Hins, a native of Herkimer Co., N. Y., who died Feb. 29, 1869 ; he married again, at Magnolia, April 4, 1869, Mrs.”
