• “In the years of 1853 and 1854 I boarded and made my home with Mr. Dwight Foster, the first settler of Fort Atkinson. But my parents sold their farm in Rock County and came here to live in the fall of 1854 and from that time on, until I was married, I lived with them. Mr.”
